Why Do Some Men Fear Being Engaged? Here Is Something Most Females Don't Understand

There are a million reasons why men don't want to get engaged with their partners. Some answers to this question could be so shocking while others border simple excuses. As a woman, it might baffle you why men shun commitments or engagement for as long as they could.

You're just not the one yet.

This is the most basic reason why a man would not want to get engaged with you. Most men could go on and on dating women that they actually don't care about -- this is a fact of life. Engagement is a serious matter and it is offered only to the most worthy woman and so if he feels that you're not worth his time or effort, then no, you'll never be engaged to this man.

Lack of confidence.

Perhaps the woman that he's wooing is also wanted by a lot of other men. And so this man who lacks confidence would just wait until the coast is clear -- if it ever does.

He isn't financially capable yet.

Engagement leads to marriage and marriage leads to a life of paying mortgages, piles of bills, and many other expenses -- or at least this is how most men would see it. The pressure of financial provision could make a man not want to get engaged yet.

He's psychologically unfit to take on any responsibility.

Some men just want to play around for as long as they can. It could be because they were brought up that way or they're too afraid of commitment because they've seen previous marriages fail. These men need guidance if they'd ever want to settle down someday.

He's just a plain, selfish jerk.

Or he's just the type who would go around and sleep with as many women as he can.

He wants to always stay on top.

And this isn't about sexual matters -- some men just feel that they'd give up being in control once they commit to any particular woman. He's simply a man who would want to live his own life, make his own decisions, and plan his own future.

He feels that the engagement will curtail his freedom.

Men view any form of commitment to be a sort of chain. And so if he would get engaged, this would be synonymous to giving up his freedom to live his life the ways he wants to. He might think if he'd still be able to go out for poker night once he gets engaged!
